Smokey wrote this song after his wife Claudette had suffered a couple of miscarriages, and she was feeling guilty for having "let him down." He wanted to reassure her that she hadn't let him down, there was nothing to feel guilty about, and his love for her was lasting and real. This one came from the heart.

Smokey's ex-wife Claudette said that he wrote this song for her when they were going through the heartbreak of multiple miscarriages. It's too bad that their marriage didn't work out,but it was beautiful tribute to what they had at that time.

I hope Smokey knows that, like Burt Bacharach, he's a genius composer who wrote the soundtrack of our lives. What masterpieces!

If you grew up in Detroit, this song was heard every day on the radio during the summer of 1967. Memories.

I consider this his greatest song! The history of it is that he wrote it in dedication to his wife who had a miscarriage of twins and felt she had let him down! This song was to let her know that his love could never waver because of what happened and that it would actually be stronger than ever! Such a powerful message and the genuineness of it is so inspirational!

Motown would not have become what it became without Smokey Robinson--PERIOD!!! Bless you, Smokey.

Without Smokey, there would be no Four Tops, no Temptations, no Marvelettes, no Supremes...none of the groups that would rise to prominence throughout the 60s.

I don't care who covered this song, it could not possibly have the Beauty and emotional level that the Original Smokey Robinson and the Miracles bought to this very heartfelt song.

This takes me back to a time when people would have rather had a backyard bar be que for the neighborhood after working in the yard than sitting in a corner typing into a phone.

When I was a teenager my dad would tell me to turn the radio down.
