I haven't brushed it over a seam like you suggest. Instead, I tend to just place it like I would when super gluing parts together, then I wait about 15 to 30 seconds for it to get a little skin forming on it, then I put the parts together. Oftentimes, a little goo will bulge out of the seam, and I wipe it away quickly for a nearly perfect finish to the seam. Sometimes sanding is necessary, but not usually.

Simple and straight to the point. Thank you!

Brilliant. I've come here after assembling a predator and I can see I'm not the only one who is unsatisfied with the gaps around the body! What a relief

I might try this, looks interesting. Right now I just use baking soda and superglue.

the hardest part about making sprue goo; using up half a bottle of plastic cement first without waste.
destinyangel5 (1 year ago (edited))
Instead of applying the sprue goo in a layer on top of the seam line then having to fiddle with scraping , cutting and sanding , why not just use sprue goo along one of the mating surfaces very very thinly then when you press together you get two things happening , adhesion and gap filling as it will slightly ooze out, minimising the blending in work , unlike a more heavy application as you demonstrated with the sprue glue application, by brushing it on the surface after it has been glued over of the joint . Would this work as would take away the step of gluing before filling in cases where gaps and joins are bad ?

i have it thicc because its better and it looks perfect

So, is the point to use the sprue goo in place of your normal adhesive on all of your miniatures as you build? Or do you just use your regular glue and use the sprue goo for patching gaps?
For pretty large gaps, is it recommended to make it a lot thicker, or should I just straight up buy epoxy putty?

can it weld to separate pieces to one piece?

I just use the tamiya cement in the orange bottle (not limonene) and made sprue goo with it. When I applied it tp my model, it left behind white stress marks... What happened here?

What kind of sanding file would you use?
