Dude came out of retirement to prosecute this case. That’s devotion and dedication to Mandy and the entire Stavik family.

This is why I love 48 hours. “You’re the first person to ask that” the interviewers are so genuine. It’s not about the show, it’s about the people these crimes affect.

The fact that two women claimed to know who the killer was but couldn't speak of it, because of living in a "small town", tells us a lot about small town America.

The detective who went to high school with her and never gave up on this case, still with tears in his eyes, must have really loved/liked her. Remarkable man! May she rip

When they said the prosecutor came out of retirement and worked unpaid for this trial, I actually started crying. You can really feel how this tragedy broke the heart of this community. It was so personal for everyone.

"I'm just an ordinary person, I don't know how I managed to have that child"....what a beautiful sentiment from an obviously amazing mother!

I cried! Hearing that the prosecutor came out of retirement and lead the whole team for free just shows how deeply loved she was by everyone!

I’m glad his brother & his wife spoke up against him. Family members don’t usually do that. Very honorable.

I’m so happy Mary, the mother, was able to see justice before her time came. Truly happy for her. RIP Mandy.

I don't think I've ever seen a case where a victim was so completely taken into the hearts of the community. Everyone in that town saw her as their daughter.

It disgusts me that he tried to lie and say that she willingly had sex with him and he tried to get his brother to lie about her as well.. he took her life & her dignity and even after her death he wouldn't stop taking. He is vile.

Kim Wagner, the supervisor who got the DNA, is a legend. She stayed on task for months because she was determined to do the right thing for Mandy’s family. Ms. Wagner makes me think of the famous Fred Rogers quote, to “look for the helpers” to maintain hope in a bleak situation. She is the helper who solved this case, and we should all be so fortunate to have neighbors and coworkers like her.

I binge watch crime shows so I want to take a moment to applaud his brother. Generally murderers' families justify or make excuses but this man speaking up really shows his moral and integrity

Very cool how 73 y/o retired prosecutor Dave McEachran came out of retirement to prosecute this case at no charge to make sure Mandy and her family got justice.

She is the helper who solved this issue, and we should all be very lucky to have neighbors and coworkers like her.
