i thought it was a nice mirror held up to the ugliness and toxicity of pop subculture. im always fascinated of how the industry views in its own fandom like this. compare it to, say, the big bang theory, where it does have it does have its own brand of disregard towards people like women, but where else they try to dress it up by being cute and quirky, Eltingville doesnt try to hide it at all.

I like how genuinely hateful and vile it is. Im sick so it feeds into my negative world view even of my own subgenre.

i do think you missed the point slightly, as a gay woman i loved this comic lol. Of course the subject matter is uncomfortable no matter what but i think the rampant homophobic and sexism is very necessary for a story like this as its a criticism of how rampant they are in nerd culture. To me its less reflective of what the writer thinks and more reflective of what the writer actually very much dislikes.
