Notice that Luca has four fingers (three + a thumb) on each hand in his seamonster form, but human-style five fingers (four + thumb) as a human. Which means that every time he transforms, a whole finger on each hand either sprouts out or merges with another finger depending on the direction of transfer.

I get it. The reason she didn't react as bad as when she found out about Alberto is because Luca has been friendly, unlike his friend. Or at least that's what I think, I have yet to see the full movie actually.
