Lex Fridman I'm traveling the world for a bit, starting with China but then hopping around the globe, anywhere. Open to any adventure. No plans, only a backpack. Hoping to meet & get to know humans from all walks of life. The pic is from a long hike on the Great Wall. For me, as a fan of history, this was an epic experience. In China, first I'm visiting a few big cities & talking to engineers at the heart of China's AI revolution. After that, if feeling crazy enough, I'm hitchhiking (first time) across rural China for a few weeks. Hitchhiking because I think it's the best way to meet rural folks who I would otherwise never get the chance to meet. I hope to do the same in US and other places. I have a request, if you have a travel recommendation, fill out the form(s) below if you feel like it. Or share with folks who might have advice about such travel. Form 1 - travel recommendation: If you can, recommend to me an interesting place I should visit anywhere in the world. For this, fill out form 1. Not touristy stuff, but something off the beaten path, that tourists may not know about, but is legendary. It could be as remote as meeting a herder in the mountains who is a local legend. Asia, Middle East, Europe, India, South/North America, Africa, Australia, anywhere. In China, I'm hoping to visit maybe Heibei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan, etc, so recommendations for spots to visit are helpful. Form 2 - coffee: If you want to grab a coffee with me anywhere in the world, fill out form 2 (please don't use form 1 for that). Anyway, I hectically tossed stuff in backpack. Realizing I don't have a clear plan of any kind, which is probably the only way to do it. LFG. Love you all ❤️ Form 1 - travel recommendation: https://form.jotform.com/261303042756046 Form 2 - coffee: https://form.jotform.com/230415467865159 General contact: https://lexfridman.com/contact/ (7 hours ago)

Lex Fridman Two-part post: 1. Hyped for state of programming. 2. Hiring for podcast team (I've been super slow/lazy on finding time for hiring, 2026 resolution is to hire!) PART 1 - Programming: Claude Opus 4.6 & GPT Codex 5.3 out today, and OpenClaw recently. And I'm sure xAI/Grok & Google/Gemini will soon be out with more. What an exciting time to build stuff! I'm walking around with a smile, happy & sleep-deprived 🤣 Next week, I'll come to SF/Bay Area for a few days/weeks/months to hang out & build some stuff ;-) Looking to focus on programming, and contribute to good engineering teams. But occasionally socialize, in as much as my introvert brain allows. 2026 is going to be fun (and wild), LFG! PS: I'm doing a deep-dive podcast on OpenClaw with its creator soon. Let me know if you have questions. PART 2 - Hiring: Also, I really need help with podcast team/hiring 😰 For example, I'm currently editing, translating the Khabib podcast & training footage, and jungle video with Paul. I've been terribly slow on hiring, allocating no time to it. My resolution for 2026 is to actually make time to look through applications & interview people. So if you're a great editor, videographer, translator, or someone who can help make sure stuff runs on time as team manager/assistant please apply: https://lexfridman.com/hiring/ Some context: We have a tiny team, and I do all the prep, guest comms, production myself. I'm fine doing all that (it's more raw & human that way), but the post-production I can definitely use help with. Among other things, it's just more fun to work on creative projects with a team. Also, outside of hiring, if you just want to hang out, have guest suggestions, or questions, go to: https://lexfridman.com/contact (3 months ago (edited))

Lex Fridman I got to train with Khabib Nurmagomedov yesterday. This was an honor of a lifetime for me. He's a great fighter & leader and a great human being. From a grappling perspective, I don't think I've ever experienced this much top pressure in my life. I'll post the footage of the training in a few days. And also we'll do a long podcast (and dub it in multiple languages). In general, it was an incredible experience to train with the team and get to know many of the fighters from Dagestan. All are great people. (3 months ago)

I’m a retired FBI Special Agent, and I can say that Andrew’s thoughts on our government not using surveillance against us, but only for terrorism is incredibly naive.

I like that Lex always has prepared questions but also goes off script when he's interested. He's the perfect AI.

This episode of the Lex Friedman podcast brought to you by the CIA.

He has an amazing ability to sound so certain and so knowledgeable about things he was entirely (and predictably) wrong about.

Never thought I'd see two spies from opposing countries talking to each other on a podcast. The world we live in!

That guy made a living out of lying, but he would never lie to us.

Don’t trust a guy that defends national surveillance. Especially when he says those that care about privacy are a threat & shouldn’t have a say in the topic. “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety”~ Ben Franklin

One thing I heard a CIA operative say is, there is "No such thing as former CIA."

Andrew: I am trained by the most competent spy agency in the world to lie to people and pretend that I am their friend and giving them something they want, but I actually have ulterior motives and am willing to do or say practically anything to achieve those motives. And even though I am not longer employed by the CIA, I still enjoy doing that in my personal life.

Epic long interview! That's not easy to pull off. I'm going to have to watch this one in sections!

This dude is still an active operator. His defense of the NSA is ludicrous.
